A prequel comic for Godzilla: King of the Monsters reveals a new Titan. Titan is the term for the giant Kaiju featured in the upcoming Godzilla flick. While the first Godzilla film in 2014 only featured two Kaiju, Godzilla: King of the Monsters will feature at least four Titans.

So far, only Mothra, King Ghidorah, Rodan, and of course Godzilla have been confirmed for the Godzilla sequel. While these are currently the only confirmed Titans for the film, it is expected that more Titans are being kept a secret until the film is released. The second trailer for Godzilla: King of the Monsters actually teased two more Titans that will likely be included in the film, although their identities haven’t been announced just yet. Now, a new Titan has been officially revealed.

First shown on the Gormaru Island Facebook page, a new unnamed Titan can be seen on the cover of the official prequel comic book for Godzilla: King of the Monsters. The comic is titled Godzilla: Aftershock, which is written by Arvid Nelson and illustrated by Drew Edward Johnson. While the comic does reveal a new Titan, it is currently unknown whether this creature will appear in the film or will only appear in the pages of the comic book. While the name for this new Titan hasn’t been announced yet, there are theories on who the other Titans might be. One of the mysterious Titans in the second trailer that has crab-like appendages is thought to be Kumonga, who first appeared in the 1967 film Son of Godzilla. The other Titan that emerges from the ground is also widely thought to be Anguirus, who was the first-ever Kaiju to fight against Godzilla back in 1955. It also seems like Godzilla: King of the Monsters may be setting up Destoroyah as the villain for Godzilla 3.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters seems to be pulling a lot of elements from the original Toho films, but this new Titan looks more like a creature from a newer Godzilla movie. In fact, the Titan on the cover of Godzilla: Aftershock shows a striking resemblance to an unused design for the M.U.T.O. that was seen in the book Godzilla: Art of Destruction. The head and second set of arms specifically look similar to the M.U.T.O. from Gareth Edwards’ film, however it is still unconfirmed whether or not this Titan shares DNA with a M.U.T.O. It is also possible that this creature is one of the Titans briefly seen in the trailers for Godzilla: King of the Monsters, but the identity of this Titan will remain a mystery until Godzilla: Aftershock is released in April.
