It will let you create three different types of lists which include, Favorites, Starred Places, and Want to Go (places you want to visit). The goal is to provide a more social feel to Google Maps. Google Maps Product Manager, Zach Maier writes: The app is required to create a list of places, however, people can still search for lists from the desktop. You can also download lists for offline viewing in case there isn’t a data connection nearby.
Google seems to be moving toward adding a lot more improvements and innovation to its Maps app. Last week the company announced the rollout of another new feature that allows you to get real-time commute information. This new list sharing capability should compete with the Foursquare app that already includes list-making tools. However, just like the real-time commute info being added last week, Google’s plan is for you to use its Maps app and not rely on third-party alternatives. The shareable lists feature will start rolling out today for Android and iOS, and will be viewable on the web via shared links.
